Take a ride with Gerry Armsworthy...

He's always got an eye on the ditch

"You've got your eyes on the road clearly.. do you just look a little wider than most people do - my eyes go back and forth all the time," Armsworthy says.

Looking for what most people are trying to avoid. "I'm looking over in the ditches...if I'm looking for road kill," he said.

Yeah...you heard him...road kill...like a not so Wile E. Coyote...aced just outside of Regina. "He's in good shape!" said Armsworthy.

It's treasure for Gerry...who wastes no time bagging it...and throwing it in the back of his Caddy. By now...you're probably thinking...this is odd.

"I'm going to turn him into this...a hat!" said Armsworthy.

Coyotes...foxes...badgers...whatever...if it's fur bearing and gets hit...Gerry a self-professed "roadkill specialist".

"Can usually turn it into something. It depends on where he is squashed...just as long as it doesn't hurt the fur..." said Armsworthy.

In other words...no treadmarks...okay, not exactly haute couture...

But before you go calling him a mad hatter...two things to keep in mind about those hats...they're warm...and they're popular. "I sell them all over Canada, people order them from me... this is what we'll get from this pelt...it just was garbage on the road..." said Armsworthy.

People even bring road kill to him. After all, there's no shortage of it. It's good fur, says Gerry, that would otherwise go to waste. "Instead of going and shooting something...yeah, I just get it off the road, yeah...it's a no brainer really," he said.

That's one word for it. You could also say it's a 21st century spin...on living off the land.

Guaranteed...you'll never look at a fur hat the same way again.

Nancy Dell'Olio is not the type of woman who does things by half.

When she found out that the Strictly Come Dancing final was to be held in Blackpool, the lawyer made sure she was prepared for the trip up north.

Having never been to the home of Britain's Pleasure Beach before, she took extra care to ensure that she was protected against the harsh seaside winds.

The 50-year-old decided to double her pleasure and wore not one but two fur items to walk from her front door to a chauffeur driven Rolls-Royce.

To be fair to Nancy it can get quite cold when walking around 10 metres from your home to a luxury car.

The former girlfriend of Sven-Goran Eriksson opted to wear only her dark brown fur top to make the trip to Farnborough Airport where she would board a private plane to Blackpool.

She carried her long light brown fur coat on one arm and accessorised the outfit with what looked like a crocodile skin handbag.

The large brown handbag matched her top but clashed with her suede boots.

It wasn't until the feisty Italian-American arrived at the airport that she decided to put on her long fur coat.

As she doubled up the amount of animal skin on her back she stood and read a newspaper while she waited to board the private jet.

Property developer Nick Candy provided the luxurious transport for Nancy after she threatened to waltz out of the final when told she would have to travel from London to Blackpool on a coach chartered by the BBC.

In the end she made the journey in the manner to which she has become accustomed – by private jet and chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce – all thanks to Holly Valance’s millionaire boyfriend.

She demanded a helicopter, but was told the budget wouldn’t stretch that far.

But cost seems to have been less of an issue for Mr Candy, who sent a Rolls-Royce, complete with personalised CC1 number-plates, to collect Ms Dell’Olio from her home and whisk her to Farnborough Airport in Hampshire.

From there she joined fellow Strictly stars Brendan Cole, Ola and James Jordan and, of course, Miss Valance for the 70-minute flight north.

Alex Jones’s boyfriend, a City banker known only as Charlie, joined them on the Hawker jet – while the One Show presenter herself took the coach up the M6, along with fellow contestants including Robbie Savage and Lulu.

In a message posted on her Twitter page on Friday, Miss  Valance – whose boyfriend and his businessman brother Christian are believed to be jointly worth about £300 million – made no reference to her extravagant trip, commenting only: ‘Blackpool is very pretty! So nice to be on the water!’

Despite their luxury journey, Miss Valance was happy to ‘slum it’ with her Strictly co-stars, taking a £122-a-night room at the four-star Big Blue hotel in Blackpool, which had been block-booked by the BBC.

Real fur coats are very big in Rome where she comes from, and It's hilarious to see all the Italian women shivering in fur, while my hardy Irish kids run round in T-shirts on a cold sunny day in January, and everyone looking at us like we're bad parents for not putting enough clothes on our children, and being horrified at being told that they don't actually feel the cold in the winter sun, because we live in the bleakest , windiest, dampest part of Europe, and they are happy to be in Rome in the sun. It's much better than here, even in January and I'm sure Nancy must really feel it, especially when she ventures north of Watford, to face all the terrible things that constitute the "North of England". God love her. It must be so difficult not to be able to walk around half -naked to show off the goods as it were. How will the people see what she has to offer, and make us all want to have that body....?

I wear fur! It's thick and luxurious, suede on the other side. Bang up to date in fashion. Keeps me so lovely and warm! I've got two coats and three gilets! They are all faux. But before you judge anybody, however rich or famous, do you eat meat or wear leather? I do both so I wouldnt want to be a hypocrite and judge anyone! I think that kind of hypocritism is based on something deeper.

MANHATTAN — Katy Perry's dad was among Manhattanites seen by Street Chic braving December's plummeting temperatures with fur.

Keith Hudson, who said he was in town for his daughter's appearance hosting Saturday Night Live at the weekend, was spotted outside Bergdorf Goodman on Fifth Avenue dressed in a Russian-style fur Ushanka hat.

He was surrounded by expensive furs in a range of color and style in the holiday shopping center of Madison and Fifth avenues.

For those who do not want to invest in a full coat, fur accessories are an important trend this season. These were evident during the cold blast of approaching winter, and ranged from raccoon coiled scarves with tailored black coats, a white mink neck muff and a knitted silver fox newsboy hat.

"Everyone wants an accessory," notes Brandon Sun, the design director for Oscar De La Renta's fur division. "It's a good investment and an easy way to re-style a camel coat or update an old fur coat," he added.

When it comes to furs, Sun says rich and luxurious wild-type furs in deep tones have been popular for the designer range during the past few years,  adding that "American red fox and coyote and the best minks are all made in America."

Sheared gray corduroy mink is a popular fur choice for a younger woman, according to Sun, as it doesn't look so much like a traditional fur and has a sportier appearance.

The people of Manhattan are always fashion-forward. DNAinfo.com captures the latest style and accessory trends, from sunglasses to shoes and handbags to hairdos, as they're worn out on the streets.

MANHATTAN — Plummeting temperatures brought furs out of storage in early December, and Street Chic noticed a range of color and style in the holiday shopping center of Madison and Fifth avenues.

And for those who do not want to invest in a full coat, fur accessories are an important trend this season. These were evident during the cold blast of approaching winter, and ranged from raccoon coiled scarves with tailored black coats, a white mink neck muff and a knitted silver fox newsboy hat.

"Everyone wants an accessory," notes Brandon Sun, the design director for Oscar De La Renta's fur division. "It's a good investment and an easy way to re-style a camel coat or update an old fur coat," he added.

When it comes to furs, Sun says rich and luxurious wild-type furs in deep tones have been popular for the designer range during the past few years,  adding that "American red fox and coyote and the best minks are all made in America."

Sheared gray corduroy mink is a popular fur choice for a younger woman, according to Sun, as it doesn't look so much like a traditional fur and has a sportier appearance.
