Kelly Brook made sure that she kept extremely warm and snug on New Year's Eve.

The television presenter was all wrapped up in a luxurious faux fur coat but still managed to show off her legs.

Kelly, 33, is well known for her figure hugging dresses and revealling outfits, but she kept things covered, glamorous and chic as she prepared to see in 2013.

The actress was seen out and about in central London putting her best fashion foot forward in the black and white coat.

With her long brunette locks down over her shoulders the beautiful brunette smiled as she headed off into the night.

Kelly teamed the warm overcoat with a pair of peep-toe heels as her electric pink dress poked out from underneath it.

Obviously Kelly, who is a massive supporter of Peta, hadn't opted for real fur but still looked exceptional.

Miss Brook may have looked graceful, but she was anything but that when it came to cooking Christmas Day dinner.

She accidentally set light to one of her tea towels when cooking her festive lunch and tweeted about the embarrassing situation.

She said: 'I set a tea towel on fire while cooking Christmas Dinner! Hid the evidence ;) Merry Christmas xxxx'.

Lindsay Lohan’s Fur Obsession – Four Different Coats in Six Days!

We knew Lindsay Lohan had a lot of baggage – and she’s proving it yet again during her London jaunt!

The 26-year-old has been photographed wearing no fewer than four different fur coats in the span of six days. And it’s not like she’s just grabbing these bulky pieces of outerwear from the closet in her posh Hollywood home (which recently received a reality TV makeover), she’s been traveling over the holidays with multiple stops on her busy itinerary.

 

 

Although she has a tax lien against her, Lohan was clearly not worried about shelling out extra cash for airline baggage fees, packing multiple coats for her trip to chilly London. On Wednesday, for a dinner date at Nozomi with rumored beau Josh Chunn (Max George is so 2012 apparently!), Lohan wore all black, including a cropped fur jacket with a high collar. Now that’s not to be confused with the one she wore on Sunday while out partying with her wobbly looking 50-year-old mother, Dina. That coat was dark brown, but came down to her thighs. And Lohan clearly wasn’t trying to stay warm – the fur was open in the front and her legs were completely bare despite the frigid temperatures, which hit a low of 43 degrees.

Lohan also packed some colorful fur options – total essentials for overseas getaways we’re sure! Before partying with her dear ole mom, she donned a knee-length gray model for a shopping trip to Harrods. The coat, which she has worn before (funny enough during a trip to London in 2010), featured a black belted waist. And for her flight to London last Friday (she spent Christmas in New York with her mom and siblings), Lohan strutted through the airport in a flashy, full-length, multi-toned fur coat, which made us really glad we didn’t have to share an overhead rack with her. It was a lot of coat!

Seeing that blond-toned coat on the one-time “Mean Girls” star made us flash back to another famous Lohan escapade – when she famously swiped an $11,000 mink from a Columbia University co-ed nearly five years ago. If you don’t remember the episode, we’ll refresh your memory. In January 2008, Masha Markova was at a private party at 1Oak in Manhattan and when she left hours later she realized her coat, which was a gift from her grandmother, was gone. Fast forward two weeks to when she was flipping through a celebrity magazine and saw a photo of Lohan leaving the club on the night in question wearing the very same  coat. Needless to say, the fur flew! When Markova’s lawyer contacted Lohan’s attorney and threatened litigation, the coat arrived at the student’s apartment two days later. However, it wasn’t in pristine condition – it reeked of cigarettes and booze, and there was a tear in the lining. Markova ultimately sued Lohan and they reached a settlement out of court a year later.

This coat debacle was one of the first sticky fingers incidents regarding Lohan. Of course, she was later convicted of misdemeanor theft for stealing a gold necklace in 2011 – and now faces jail time for that charge because she recently violated her probation.

Real fur is an organic material. « Faux fur » (fake fur) and most synthetics are made from petrochemicals. Like other plastics, these materials do not break down easily and will remain in landfills for centuries.  The “dressing”process (tanning) helps to preserve the pelts for some time, but after many years of use they will eventually dry out and begin to deteriorate (i.e., biodegrade), returning to nature. • Fake fur, despite its many advantages over real fur, does have a distinct disadvantage of not being environmentally friendly. Materials like blends of acrylic and modacrylic polymers derived from coal, air, water, petroleum and limestone go into the making of faux fur. These do not break down easily unlike real fur, which is biodegradable.
• A functional disadvantage of faux fur is that it is not resistant to frost. Since it does not provide adequate warmth, its use becomes difficult when hiking, mountain climbing or skiing in extreme weather conditions. Natural fur is made from wolf, polar bear or possum which can withstand the harshest of weather conditions by preventing the snow from freezing.
• As far as appearance is concerned, you may find faux fur to be very similar to bona fide fur. But, there is a marked difference as it tends to be coarser with a cotton-like feel, whereas real fur is a lot smoother.

Beige Chinchilla How I Almost Lost This Fabulous Jacket

It was the beginning of November 2012, the phone range, my secretary Rachelle picked it up. She pages me woth  message that there was am man on the phone, from Finland looking to purchase a money green chinchilla jacket. 

This money green chinchilla is exclusive to us, so it would not be unordinary to receive a request the this beautiful fur. 

So afrer speaking to this gentleman from Finland for ove 20 minutes, we finally took an order for a beige chinchilla mens jacket with a hood, rather than the money green chinchilla he questioned about.

We accepted a payment thru American Express, received an email showing a driver licence and a passport and assumed all was good. That was my mistake, assumed.

It took us a little longer than planned to make this jacket, the beige color was dyed and it is a special process we use to create this fabulous color.

Six weeks pass instead of the 4 weeks we thought we can deliver by, The buyer asked if we can ship to London instead of Finland, I agreed since the passport was based in London.

We used the post olffice to ship, finally the beige chinchilla jacket was okn its way to the buyer in London. Many phone call, many emails was sent rushing me to ship as fast as possible since he claimed he had an event to host.

I provided the tracking number and thougt I was finnished. The box came back, the United States Post OfficeSaid they do not have the ability to ship this to London, in a panic, I went to Fedex to reship to London. Fedex took the box, but a day later it returned, they too cannot ship to London.

I found out in order to ship this fur to london, I needed to get permission from fthe government organization Fish and Wildlife. 

I had no time for this, so what I planned on doing is sending somone with a round trip plane ticket to London to personally deliver the fur. 

Many  phone calls, Many emails, I just needed to get this man his fur, problem, I opened the mail just before I shipped the fur

Fur Prices On The Rise Again.....

With the price of fur pelts rising, fur designers will have to get more creative. That traditional mink coat will soon disappear since style will sell the fur over quality.

In The United States, the consumer comes into a fur store with a certain budget in hand. In order to meet this budget, furriers need to get more creative and have the product highly styled in order to sell the product, combining the product with some exotic leather, hints of silver fox, some chinchilla trim or some other interesting details will give the customer a bit of excitement overlooking the quality of the fur.

The only way a furrier can survive with this much increase is to sell his existing furs at a lower price  level than market value, but this is only short term, since the replacment furs will be that much higher. 

Novelty furs will become a staple, the fine quality classic mink coat may not have the ability to survive with these drastic price increases.

Things to know about caring for your chinchilla's coat.

Chinchillas are instinctively clean and practically odorless if dust-bathed regularly (two to three times per week). The dust bath removed excess dirt and oil buildup from their coats. Tolling in the dust is relaxing and chinchillas often nap afterward. Dust-bath houses are available or rectangular glass or metal baking dishes may be used.

All chinchillas shed year-round, with increased fur loss during spring and summers. If your chin ingests excess fur while self-grooming, intestinal blockages may result. Some chins enjoy a gentle combing and will fall asleep on your lap.

Shedding hair tends to drop off chinchillas with thinner coats, so they only require infrequent combing. Chinchillas with thicker, cottony coats need regular grooming because shed hair tends to accumulate and form mats in the coat. Matted fur prevents effective dust bathing, so excess body oil and dirt stays in the coat. If oil and dirt build up in the coat, the fur clumps and separates which causes the chinchillas to lose more body heat and makes it more vulnera

ble to illness. An unclean coat also makes a chinchilla prone to skin disease and irritation.

As chinchillas jump around their cage, hay, dust bath materials, droppings and litter can escape through the bars despite the best guard strips. Depending on your chinchilla’s habits, occasionally some urine can leak onto the floor. Should your chinchilla have diarrhea, its cage can become very messy until the episode passes. If this occurs, scrape off and clean all the affected areas. You must frequently vacuum, sweep and/or dust around the cage area.

Fur Prices Continue to Rise on Strong Global Demand 2013-2014

The pricing on fur is going out of control. Fur prices have increased already 15% since December 1st on mink and doubled in price on raccoon skins. The strong global demand for fur, the cold weather in  Europe and the companies buying fur pelts for speculation will add a sharper increase this fur selling season.

The prediction of male mink skins hitting $200 looks very possible within the next few months. A mink stroller that will use 20 mink skins will cost $5000 before manufacturing and profit.

The direction that the fur pricing is heading, only the top 1% will be able to afford. With such strong pricing, how much resistance will the public give? This remains to be seen, but there are fur garments in stock globally that was purchased before the increases. These already manufactured furs will be able to help the customers absorb some of the shock of the new fur price increase.
