Fur Cleaning Process "Old vs New" Fur Cleaning Process The processing of fur manufacturing has changed over the last few years. The new furs should not be cleaned in the traditional method which was passed down from generation to generation. Since the furs are lighter in weight today, they are a bit more delicate and need some additional care. The old method of fur cleaning was to use sawdust or ground corn cobbs with a cleaning solution, tumble the fur in a fur drum for 15-30 minutes, once complete, the furs need to be tumbled again, in a different drum, to remove the saw dust or ground corn cobbs. The old process can cause rips and tears to your new fur by adding additional stress to the fur from the tumbling process. In addition if the cleaning solution is not carefully measured and if the leather gets wet, it can cause some shrinkage or stiffness. The new fur cleaning method, conditions and cleans the hair without any stress on the fur or leather. No tumbling or drumming is required. The new fur cleaning solution is biodegradable, adds a fresh clean smell and your fur will feel so soft and silky.
